Pathways in Welding

Certificates Available

Industrial Welder Certificate
The Industrial Welder Certificate provides students with instruction in each of the most common processes used in the welding industry, including: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG), and Oxyfuel welding and cutting, as well as instruction in welding safety. Students who complete this certificate will be prepared for an entry-level position in the welding industry.

Advanced Welder Certificate
Graduates are adept in the various welding types, including Oxy-fuel, Shielded Metal Arc (STICK), Gas Metal Arc (MIG), Flux Core Arc, and Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG) welding. Upon completion a welding certification may be acquired in one or more welding processes.

While RVC does not currently have a degree option in Welding, many students choose degrees in manufacturing adjacent fields.
Industrial Welding completers work in entry-level positions and can return to RVC to complete hte Advanced Welder Certificate. Students can focus on metal fabrication or robotic welding to enhance employability.

Students should meet with an Academic Advisor to develop a clear pathway leading to a seamless transfer experience or transition to the workforce. For additional possibilities that may require an advanced degree or certification, make an appointment with an Academic Advisor.

View our Transfer Guides for planning resources.

RVC is an American Welding Society accredited test facility so students have the opportunity to take a certification test after the completion of our 31 credit certificate program.
